New Lebanon READ – October Poster

November 6, 2009 By eastwickpress

Appearing on the October poster for the New Lebanon READ poster campaign is Gaston Robert, seen reading his favorite book, The Renewable Energy Handbook: A Guide to Rural Energy Independence, Off-Grid and Sustainable Living by William H. Kemp.
Mr. Robert and his wife Susanne own The Shed Man, sited at the gateway to Town center for more than 20 years. Until recently, he served as the Chief of the Lebanon Valley Protective Association, a post he held for five years. Mr. Robert is a third generation builder, having constructed houses, additions and sheds throughout the area for the past 30 years.
The choice of The Renewable Energy Handbook reflects Mr. Robert’s commitment to self sufficient living.  He estimates that the 60% of his home’s electric energy consumption is supplied by solar panels. The book provides an overview of different products that enable rural homeowners to take advantage of wind, solar and other alternative energy sources.
Inspired by the American Library Association READ program, NL READ promotes reading and the use of library services through posters that feature local citizens with their favorite books. The campaign started in June and will continue into May 2010. Jane Feldman, an award wining photojournalist, photographed the subjects for the poster campaign.
