Ralph W. Vincent

Berlin – Ralph W. Vincent, 81, formerly of Berlin and Poestenkill, NY, died on Sunday evening, November 15, 2009, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT.
Born March 31, 1928, he was the son of the late Jesse and Tressa Deyoe Vincent. He was the loving husband of the late Lois M. Battige Vincent, who died on February 26, 1995. They were married on August 1, 1965. He was a life long member of the Berlin United Methodist Church.
A 1946 graduate of Berlin High School, he worked on his parents’ farm in Stephentown, NY, before enlisting in the United States Army. He served from 1952 to 1954 and was a member of the Army Reserves until 1966. He took over ownership of the farm after leaving the service in 1954 until selling it in 1965. Ralph was employed as Grounds Supervisor at Hudson Valley Community College. He was a member of the Taconic Valley American Legion Post #937 where he served as Chaplain.
He is survived by a brother, Alva Vincent, along with many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Bessie “Betty” Huff, and two brothers, Harold and Elmer Vincent.
Funeral services are on Thursday evening, November 19, at 7 in the Berlin United Methodist Church, South Main Street where Rev. Kim Kie, pastor, will officiate. A time of fellowship will follow in the Church Hall. Relatives and friends are invited to the Church for visitation starting at 5 pm on Thursday. Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Friday at 2 pm in the Berlin Community Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Berlin United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are under the guidance of the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home of Petersburgh, NY.
