Sandra Mae Weeden

Berlin – Sandra Mae Weeden, 64, a life-long resident of Berlin and Petersburgh, NY, died on November 13, 2009, at the Cabarrus County Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Kannapolis, NC, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Troy, NY, on August 9, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Marion Rathbun of Berlin.  Sandy graduated from Berlin Central High School in 1963 and from Albany Business School in 1965.  She was employed by Taconic Plastics Ltd. in Petersburgh for 33 years until her retirement in 2001. Sandy was an avid racing fan and attended races for many years at Lebanon Valley Speedway and throughout the NASCAR circuit. She held many fond memories of the “valley” community and loved all things country, including music.
She is survived by her loving family, including her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Allen Ollis of Pacific Palisades, CA, her son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Cheryl Weeden of Beavercreek, OH, her grandchildren, Cassie and Kyle Weeden of Beavercreek, and her brothers, Whitney Rathbun of Berlin and Murray Rathbun of Chatham, NY.
A Memorial Service celebrating Sandy’s life will be held at the Berlin United Methodist Church, 13 South Main Street, Berlin, at 11 am on Saturday, November 21.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sandy’s memory may be made to the Jeff Gordon Foundation, Attn: Donations, 4345 Papa Joe Hendrick Blvd., Charlotte, NC, 28262, or on-line at www.jeffgordonfoundation.org (cancer research and treatment for children).
