Led by 16 and 15 point efforts by senior Kevin McMahon and sophomore Tanner Williams, the Hoosick Falls Central School varsity boys basketball team defeated visiting Cambridge Central School 56-44 last Friday, December 11, to help Coach Mike Lilac Jr. earn his 195th career coaching win at HFCS. Lilac, winning coach of three WASAREN League titles, including last year’s crown, and two Class CC sectional runner-up trophies, has toiled with the Panther boys for the past 14 campaigns.
The Panthers and Indians were deadlocked 9-9 after one quarter with Cambridge taking a 21-19 lead at the intermission. Hoosick Falls, now 2-0 on the young season, went on a 23-4 run in period three to take a 42-25 advantage heading into the final eight minutes. Cambridge came back to outscore the hosts by a 19-14 margin over the final eight minutes, but the damage had already been done to the Indians. Also scoring for Hoosick Falls was Sean Dingman with 6 points, Hutton Rasmus, 7, Alex Lilac, 6, Quinn Rasmus, 4, and Andy DiDonato with 2 points. For CCS, Will Bromirski led the way with a game high 20 points.
