Ralph Watson Chittenden

New Lebanon – Ralph Watson Chittenden, 80, of 3027 Forest Drive, Lakeland, FL, a New Lebanon native, peacefully passed on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Palm Terrace Hospice House after a prolonged illness.
Born June 25, 1929, he was the son of Norman and Ethel (King) Chittenden of New Lebanon, NY. He was a resident of New Lebanon throughout his life, as well as a part time resident of Summerland Key, FL, for many years and most recently lived in Lakeland for the past ten years.
At the time of his death Mr. Chittenden was retired from his longstanding construction company based in New Lebanon. He was an active member of various organizations including the Lebanon Valley Protective Association, the Elks Club of Rensselaer NY, the Sportsmen’s Club of Canaan, NY, and Moose Lodge Florida.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Carol Chittenden of Florida, whom he married November 5, 1982, his children, Brenda and husband Brad Molasky of Chatham, NY, Sheryl and husband Mel Gallup of New Lebanon, William Chittenden of New Caney, TX, Laurie and husband Stuart Geraldi of West Lebanon, NY, and Maureen and husband Charles Logan of Valatie, NY, his stepsons, James Michael, Jesse and John Rose and their children, his grandchildren, Donna, Ben, Adam, Biffy, Joshua, Sarah and Eliza; seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Elizabeth Faulkner of Lakeland, FL, as well as many extended family members. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Mary Ryan, in 1996 and his first wife, Elizabeth, in 1985.
Per his request, there will be no services in Florida. However, Ralph’s granddaughter Biffy (Peterson) Cahill has requested that Sue Schultz conduct a Memorial Service on Sunday, January 17, 2010,at  3 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church. All are welcome to attend.
