Sounds At St. Mary’s Academy Fund Raiser

December 18, 2009 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
Once again the fabulous sponsors, volunteers and performers at St. Mary’s Academy offered up a fantastic holiday show, complete with a large array of Silent Auction items for bidding. Many of the items were put together by the various classes in the school. They were a special enticement for many parents.
With their customary magic, volunteers turned the school gym into an enchanting cabaret with soft overhead lights and electric candlelit centerpieces on every table. Large lighted Christmas trees added to the ambiance. Behind the performers was a pale backdrop accentuated with large lighted snowflakes.
Candelabras lit the long tables of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres for folks to nibble on before the show. They were replaced with a delicious variety of desserts during intermission.
Performers At Their Best
Krissy Fauler and Shari Hand put on a phenomenal show entitled “Sounds of the Season and More, a Vocal Showcase.” Their solos, harmonies and backups were outstanding.

The quality of their songs highlighted the many hours of work they put into providing their audience with an unforgettable performance. Of course Richard Cherry on piano is always something special to hear. A great addition to the show was singer and guitarist Wayne Willson.
The December 12 program included many enjoyable contemporary classics by the ensemble and some snappy repartee from Krissy and Shari. The women displayed their vocal versatility with several selections such as “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” The second half of the show included many Christmas selections. Wayne’s rendition of “Mary Did You Know” was moving, as was Shari’s rendition of “O Holy Night.”
All in all, the SMA fund raiser was spectacular.
