doing the hiring. Murphy left cards and flyers with the Village Clerk with information on applying for a job. She said these part time temporary jobs will pay $15 an hour. More information is available on the internet at “2010 Census Job.” All applicants must pass a test to qualify to be a Census Taker. A practice test is available at the internet site.
According to the website, “Every 10 years the Census Bureau takes a snapshot of our population, determining how many people reside within the nation’s borders, who they are and where they live. The results help determine your representation in government, as well as how federal funds are spent in your community on things like roads, parks, housing, schools and public safety.”
Full-time workers, retirees, job seekers, students and community leaders are welcome to apply.
During March 2010 Census forms will be mailed or delivered to households. April 1 is National Census Day. Those who have received the forms should use this day as a point of reference for sending completed forms back in the mail. From April through July 2010 Census Takers will visit households that did not return a form by mail. December 2010 the Census Bureau, by law, must deliver population information to the President for apportionment.
