Trail Tracker Volunteers Needed

December 23, 2009 By eastwickpress

The Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is looking for snowshoers and cross country skiers for their Trail Trackers volunteer program. The Dyken Pond Center is managed as a back country area without groomed trails. Trail Tracker Volunteers will break trail and track out the trail system after each snowfall this winter. We’ll also be meeting weekly to check trails and keep them free of debris throughout the winter season. Volunteers will meet in the morning on a day determined by the group, check trails and share a simple lunch afterwards. Volunteers need no experience but do need to be physically fit. Don’t have the equipment? The Center will loan snowshoes for anyone without a pair.
Interested volunteers are asked to contact Lisa at the Center at dykenpond@fairpoint.net or 658-2055. Trail Trackers will start with the first good snowfall of the season.
Dyken Pond Center is a Rensselaer County Park open daily during daylight hours for hiking, snowshoeing, cross- country skiing, nature watching and ice fishing. Call 658-2055 or visit our website at www.dykenpond.org for directions and a complete schedule of our winter events.
