Walter C. Gardner

Hoosick Falls – Walter C. Gardner, 80, died Thursday, November 26, 2009, at the Crescent Manor Care Center in Bennington, VT. Formerly Walter had resided in Hoosick Falls, NY, with his wife Joan (Eddy) Gardner.
Born on June 30, 1929, in West Hoosick, NY, Walter was the son of the late Harold W. and Grace (Strait) Gardner. He graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and was member of the National Guard in Hoosick Falls. He worked at the family business, Gardner’s Garage, in Hoosick Falls and later at Norplex Oak and Riverview both in Hoosick Falls. Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, time with family and teaching his grandchildren about hunting and fishing.
Survivors, other than his wife Joan, include his children, Mark P. Gardner of Mesa, AZ, Greg W. Gardner and wife Vicki of Hoosick Falls, Jeff A. Gardner and wife Lori of Mesa, AZ, and JoAnne Piritz and husband Mike of Hoosick Falls, his grandchildren, Billie Remillard and husband David of Hempstead, NH, Jonathan Piritz and wife Felicia, Christopher Piritz and wife Grace, all of Hoosick Falls, Michael P. Gardner and wife Kate of Swanze, NH, Julie Warren and husband Giovanni of Ballston Spa, NY, Derek Gardner, Lindsay Gardner, both of Hoosick Falls, and Ali Gardner of San Francisco, CA, as well as seven great-grandchildren. Walter is pre-deceased by a brother, Robert.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 5, at 2:30 pm from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the service at the Island Hill Cemetery in Buskirk, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 pm until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Crescent Manor Care Center Activities Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association through the funeral home.
