Berlin Farm Co-Sponsors Sustainable Farming Conference

January 8, 2010 By eastwickpress

On January 29 and 30, the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County and Black Queen Angus Farm of Berlin will co-host the Second Annual Winter Green-up Grass-fed Conference.  Last year’s conference brought over 200 participants, mostly farmers, to the Century House Conference Center in Latham, NY.  These participants came from six states and Canada.
Given the hard economic times for both dairy and beef producers in the Northeast, this is an opportunity to learn from some of the leaders in the Sustainable Agriculture movement.  The focus of the speakers over the two days of this conference is profitability, for no operation is sustainable for long without profitability.  Six speakers from across the country, three alone from here in New York State, will address this conference.  We hope that Congressman Scott Murphy will attend this conference along with NY Secretary of Agriculture Pat Hooker.
For more information and to register, please contact Tom Gallagher of CCE Albany County at tjg3@cornell.edu, Lisa Cox at 518- 765-3512 or Morgan Hartman at blackqueenangus@yahoo.com.
