The Sixth Annual Bowl for Hoosick Kids raised over $9,000 for the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) on Saturday, January 16. Thanks to the generosity of primary sponsors, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics and WCW, Inc., and the event host, Barbecue Recreation, the event was a tremendous success, according to organizers.
“Saint-Gobain really came through for us this year,” said HAYC3 Executive Director Aelish Nealon. “Not only did they make their generous annual contribution as a primary sponsor, they also fielded three teams that brought in an additional $900.” Nealon said the funds raised will be used to support programs at the Youth Center and to purchase needed supplies and materials for all the activities the kids engage in at the Center. The funds also support community-strengthening programs, such as babysitting courses and parenting classes.
The bowling team led by Scott McCart took top honors for the most donations collected per team member, bringing in over $80 per person. The top individual pledge collector was Connor McCart with $152 in pledges. In an in-house competition, Ed Bacon’s Youth Center Basketball team collected the most pledges and won themselves a “Make-Your-Own Sundae” party.
A community open house is being planned for the weekend of March 26-28 to celebrate the creation of HAYC3, a merger of the Hoosick Youth & Community Center and the Hoosick Area Partnership for Parents & Youth (HAPPY), announced Nealon. Everyone is welcome to visit the Center and see how proceeds from events like Bowl for Hoosick Kids are being used to benefit the youth of Hoosick Falls.
