Elizabeth “Betty” Wagner

January 15, 2010 By eastwickpress

Petersburgh – Elizabeth “Betty” Leborius Wagner, 89, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2010, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT, following a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 15, 1920, she grew up and resided in NYC with her beloved husband, the late Ortwin Karl Wagner, until they relocated to Petersburgh, NY, in 1975 following his retirement due to illness. She was a loving, dedicated caregiver to her cherished husband until his death in 1992. Betty loved her home, her pets, caring for her gardens and flowers, especially roses, and was an accomplished artist. She was very independent and took care of her home and property by herself for many years. She was a wonderful wife, niece and special friend and will be truly missed.
In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her aunt, Lena Church, and several cousins. Survivors include her devoted special friends, Rev. William and Astrid O’ Dell and Ingrid and John Baudy, who included Betty and Lena in their lives for many years at holiday and family functions. The family would like to send special thanks to the staff of the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation for the special care and compassion shown to her during her time there.  A graveside funeral service will be held in the spring at the Meadowlawn Cemetery in Petersburgh at a date and time to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, Petersburgh.
