Hoosick Grange News

Hoosick Grange met on January 13. After the business meeting was conducted they had the Lecturer’s program. The Lecturer reported on the ones that were remembered since the last meeting. Martha Babbitt reported on giving a DVD of the Mennonites singing at our Christmas program to the Pleasant Valley Infirmary. This was in honor of her mother, Pearl Betts. Her mother and Grace Cartin, both members of Hoosick Grange, were able to share in our Christmas program. All the staff at the Infirmary that were able, shared in the music. Martha was told that this will be part of their yearly Christmas program.
Louise Slingerland showed the second half of the tape of our 100th Anniversary. We heard the rest of the New York State Overseer Mr. Stephen Coye’s speech. He was very interesting telling about things that happened in our country that related to Grange. It was even more interesting the second time around. We enjoyed the other speakers and the presentation of certificates. The Lecturer had a reading on the Heart of a Child. It was about a child wanting to have a Pantry Shower for the poor. She also had a few jokes and a closing thought. “Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you’d have preferred to talk.”
The next Grange meeting is on February 10, if the weather is good. Marion Brenenstuhl is on program, Raising Hops. The Refreshment Committee is C.F.A.
