Robert Joseph McGarvin II

Hoosick Falls – Robert Joseph “Bobby” McGarvin II, 61, passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at home surrounded by his family and friends. He resided with his wife Patricia Jean (Springer) McGarvin on Water Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.
Born on August 8, 1948, in Bennington, VT, Bob was the son of the late Robert Joseph and Mary M. (Finzer) McGarvin. He graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. While serving in the Army he received the Army Commendation Medal in 1969 and the Bronze Star Medal in 1970. Bob was a former owner and operator of the Farmers Inn on Rt. 7 in Hoosick, NY, a former police officer for the Village of Hoosick Falls and was formerly employed by Oak-Mitsui in Hoosick Falls.
Survivors, other than his wife Patricia, include daughters, Polly Harrington and Craig Colvin and Krista Dooley and her husband Thomas, sons, Roland E. O’Brien and wife Theda and Dennis C. O’Brien, all of Hoosick Falls, sisters, Christine McGarvin of Louisiana and Marion Stevens and husband Harold of Hoosick Falls, brothers, William Goodermuth and wife Nancy of South Carolina and Raymond McGarvin an wife Kelly of Hoosick Falls, ten grandchildren, Joshua, Erick, Nick, Rolly, Logan, Vanessa, Kody, Patricia, Roxanne and Alicia, and two great-grandchildren, Ayden O’Brien and Alexis Jade. Bob leaves behind several nieces, nephews, many friends and his cat, Kat. He is pre-deceased by a son, Robert Joseph McGarvin III.
No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center through the funeral home.
