Double H Trip

February 26, 2010 By eastwickpress

Sixteen students along with five chaperones volunteered recently at  the Double H Hole in The Wall Camp in Lake Luzerne.  The students used their school holiday, January 19, to pay tribute to their friend Cooper Reiman.  Cooper passed away last February from muscular dystrophy.  The Double H camp was a favorite place of Cooper’s.
Volunteers sorted craft supplies, moved books, cleaned the dining hall basement and other jobs needing to be done before the camping season begins.
This is the second time Berlin students have traveled as a group and volunteered at the Paul Newman founded camp for children with special medical needs.

The Double H Ranch, co-founded by Charles R. Wood and Paul Newman, provides specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with life threatening illnesses.  Their purpose is to enrich the children’s lives and provide camp experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound. All programs are free of charge and capture the magic of the Adirondacks.
On April 17 and May 22 the camp invites community members to come and be part of the pre-summer camp prep. If you are interested, please contact the camp.
For more information on the camp and its programs go to www.doublehranch.org.
