HFCS Girls Basketball Loses To Tamarac

February 5, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
Wednesday night’s JV and Varsity games against Tamarac brought out the pink. This week the HF basketball teams are participating in the fund raiser Coaches Vs. Cancer. The players sported pink ribbons in their hair, pink socks and/or pink shoe laces. The game ball was pink and white and the referees used pink whistles to call the game. Members of the boys basketball team were at the door to collect donations.

The HF JV girls matched Tamarac for the first half of their game. A dry spell in the third and fourth quarter saw them nine points behind. Suddenly they sparked back to life to almost close that deficit. Everyone held their breath when the tying HF ball landed on the rim and rolled completely around it without going in. The final score was Tamarac 43, Hoosick Falls 42.
It was a tough night for the Varsity girls. In the first quarter Tamarac hit three three-pointers and two other baskets right off the bat. With 58 seconds left on the clock in the first, HF scored 2. The first quarter score 2-15. The second quarter closed with HF trailing 14-31. The girls made some great shots in the third quarter closing to 30-39, but the final score was Tamarac 53, Hoosick Falls 41. Jenna Priore was high scorer for the Panthers with 18 points.
