Stephentown – Marie Louise Lanner, 88, of South Stephentown Road, Stephentown, NY, died on Monday, February 15, 2010, at her grandson’s residence under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
Marie was born October 11, 1921, in the Bronx, NY. She resided in Silver Beach Gardens, the Bronx, before moving to Stephentown. She had retired from the New York Telephone Company where she was a manager. Marie was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in New Lebanon, NY. Marie was the widow of First Lieut. Joseph A. Lanner, killed in action during World War II in the Philippines. She was also pre-deceased by her daughter, Marie L. Killeen.
Survivors include her grandsons and their wives, Michael and Lori Killeen with whom she resided and Mark and Kim Killeen of Cropseyville, NY, a sister, Helen and her husband Robert Hausser of Surfside Beach, SC, great-grandchildren, Sarah Killeen, Kaitlyn and husband Nick Homiak, Daniel Killeen, Joseph Killeen, Nicole Killeen, and her nephew, Robert Messerschmitt, along with several other nieces and nephews. She was also the best friend of Millie Pascale of the Bronx.
A Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial was celebrated on Thursday, February 18, at 11 am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Route 20, New Lebanon, by Rev. John Close and Deacon Peter Quinn. There were no calling hours. Burial will take place at a later date in the Long Island (Pinelawn) National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
