The Hoosick Falls Central School Panther boys basketball team raised their WASAREN League record to 10-1 this past Tuesday evening, February 2, Ground Hog Day, when they scored a 56-34 triumph over the Brittonkill-Tamarac Central School boys hoop team on the Bengals’ home court. Hoosick Falls, leading the league by a game over Schuylerville Central School (9-2), fell behind the hosts by a 10-9 margin after eight minutes before rallying for a 26-17 halftime spread. Then HFCS turned on the offense in period three and led by a 45-27 score with one quarter to be played. Hoosick Falls outscored the hosts by an 11-7 margin over the final eight minutes to record their 56-34 win.
Kevin McMahon led the Panther attack with 30 points, including going ten for ten from the charity stripe. Other Hoosick Falls players to hit the scorebook were Quinn Rasmus with 6 points, Alex Lilac, 6, Sean Dingman, 5, John Hayden, 4, Tanner Williams, 2, and Mike Brewster with 2 points. Leading the way for B-T was Shawn Eddy with 10 points.
Rebounding from Afar: Next up for the Panthers is a home game this Friday, February 5, versus Greenwich. The Witches have given a very good accounting of themselves in recent games and must not be taken lightly. Then comes an away contest at a tough Stillwater team next Tuesday, February 9. Coach Mike Lilac Jr.’s Panther five still has a lot of work to do in this 2009-10 round ball campaign.
