Panther Girls Hoop Team Loses To Schuylerville

February 5, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Gary Danforth
Coach Kerry Brannigan’s Hoosick Falls Central School girls varsity basketball team came up short last Friday night, January 29, in a loss to Schuylerville Central School, 46-35. The loss left the Panther girls at 0-10 in WASAREN League play and at 1-13 overall.
The Horses broke out to leads of 10-7 and 26-12 at halftime. Schuylerville spurted to a 43-20 advantage after three quarters and went on to their 46-35 win. HFCS did outscore the hosts 15-3 over the final eight minutes to make the score respectable.
Jen Priore with 10 points, Erin Shea, 6, Samantha Skott, 6, Shelby Jones, 5, Alyssa Schneider, 4, and Frankie Pearson with 4 points scored for HFCS. For Schuylerville, Katelyn Fane with 16 and Sarah Palmer with 10 points led the way.
Rebounding from Afar: The HFCS girls take to the road to play Greenwich on Friday, February 5. Winning seasons can be much easier to deal with than losing seasons. You’ve got to hand it to these young kids for hanging in there in the face of adversity. A couple of nice sized home crowds for their final two home games would go a long way toward rewarding these kids for their hard work in practice and games all season. They could be doing a lot worse things than running up and down a basketball court.
