Grafton – Trevah E. Yerke Crandall Burdick, 72, of Taconic Lake Road, Grafton, NY, died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Petersburgh, NY, on May 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Nettie Yerke. She was the loving wife of Stanton Burdick, whom she married on September 4, 1964. She was the widow of Joseph Crandall.
A lifelong resident of the Grafton area, Trevah attended Berlin schools. She was a school bus driver for the Berlin Central School District retiring in the 1990s. She also worked summers at Grafton Lakes State Park. She was a proud volunteer at the Berkshire Bird Paradise. Mrs. Burdick was a former Town Justice in Grafton and a former member of both the State and Rensselaer County Magistrates Association. She was a member of the Grafton Rescue Squad and the former EMS Coordinator for Rensselaer County. Trevah was a member of the Grafton VFW and Grafton Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary along with belonging to the Home Bureau.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Stanton, four daughters, Wendy L. Vars of Grafton, Cindy A. Minkler of Berlin, NY, Rebecca L. Snyder of Grafton and Victoria E. Burdick of Mayfield, NY, a sister, Dorothy Vars of Berlin, grandchildren, Mark and Joe Vars, Heather Hicks, Richard, Abraham and William Snyder, Katie Fiske, sixteen great-grandchildren with a great-grandson on the way and her devoted friend, Priscilla Dunlop. She was pre-deceased by brothers, Richard and Paul Yerke.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, on Saturday, February 27, from 10 to 12 noon for visitation. A funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Trygve Tomlinson at the funeral home starting at noon. A time of fellowship will follow in the VFW Hall in Grafton. Spring burial will take place in the Meadowlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions would be appreciated and given to either the Grafton Rescue Squad of the Berkshire Bird Paradise in loving memory of Trevah E. Burdick.
