Helen Loretta Taylor

Hoosick Falls – Helen Loretta (Minsky) Taylor, 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Danforth Adult Home in Hoosick Falls, NY. She was the wife of the late Carl A. Taylor, who died in 2005. They were married for sixty-three years.
Born on November 14, 1918, in Maspeth, NY, Helen was the daughter of the late Albert and Lottie (Bartesky) Minsky. She attended school in Maspeth and was a homemaker all of her life. Helen volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center in Hoosick Falls, was on the Board of Directors and was involved with crafts at the Center. She also received the Senior Volunteer of the Year Award from Rensselaer County. Helen was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, where she also did volunteer work. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed reading to children at the Cheney Library. Her family was very important to her.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Cioffi of Stewart Manor, NY, and Donna Wagner of Garden City, NY, her son, Carl R. Taylor of Stamford, VT, and her brother, Lawrence Minsky of Maspeth. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Helen is pre-deceased by a sister, Ronnie Brough, and a brother, Butsie Minsky.
Funeral Services are on Friday, March 19, at 9 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 6 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County through the funeral home.
