Hoosick Planning Board

The Town of Hoosick Planning Board meeting took place this past Monday, March 15, inside the Hoosick Falls Armory with chairman Jim Dunigan calling the meeting to order at 7:30 pm. Following the Pledge of Allegiance the minutes of the previous month’s meeting were approved with a correction noted. There were seven Board members present along with Board attorney Stan King and recording secretary Karen Jennings.
With no citizens in attendance except for the Town Building Inspector, the Board heard Sheila Duncan give a presentation about putting a Subway sandwich shop in the same general vicinity as the newly reopened Sunoco gas station/mart where the Dunkin Donuts shop is in Hoosick. This was considered an initial consult by the Board. Duncan said she and her husband wished to apply for a Subway franchise, which would entail paying a $15,000 fee, so they wanted to get an idea whether the Planning Board would look upon such a venture in a positive way. An application for same had been submitted. A sketch plan was also submitted and the Board went over some items which may have to be addressed. There was some concern raised over traffic flow patterns for both vehicles and pedestrians within the confines of the three businesses. The owners said they hoped to serve customers within all three businesses. A site plan would need to be submitted. The Board waived a contour plan, test borings, water and soil plan, a stamp on the site plan by an engineer, a septic/water sewage report and display areas. The Board will want to see parking areas and handicapped parking, a landscaping plan, a utility update, internal and external entrances and exits along with walkways, signage and its location and the elevations of buildings. A short form environmental assessment form will need to be submitted and gone over.
This meeting, which took place on a day when the temperature hit 49 degrees and adjourned at 8:35 pm.
