In the opening minutes of the WASAREN League vs. Patroon Conference Exceptional Senior game, Hoosick Falls senior Kevin McMahon showed the players, coaches and fans of the Patroon Conference exactly why he has won two straight WASAREN MVP awards – by doing a little bit of everything. In the opening minutes McMahon blocked a shot at the foul line, grabbed the loose ball and raced to the other end of the court. Going through two defenders, the 6 foot 6 inch senior threw down a big one handed dunk,

much to the delight of the crowd. Minutes later he picked up an assist and then stepped back and hit a three-pointer. And this was all in the first quarter. The WASAREN League seniors jumped out to a 19-7 lead after the first quarter.
The Patroon Conference made a comeback in the second half but could not overcome the 12 three-point shots that the WASAREN League connected on. They held this year’s Patroon MVP Chris Britt of Rensselaer to just seven points. The final score was WASAREN League 71, Patroon Conference 66.
McMahon and Steve Backus of Schuylerville each finished with a game high 13 points. McMahon also pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked a hand full of shots. Austin Bateman, also of Schuylerville, and Granville’s Evan Miller had 11 points each. Casey Walsh of Greenwich and Luca D’Auiuto of Cambridge had 8 points each and Shawn Eddy of Tamarac had 1 point. Mark Sabatino (Stillwater) and Alex McNiece (Hoosic Valley) joined the other Hoosick Falls Panther, Hutton Rasmus on the WASAREN squad.
