Shenanigans! Irish Folk and Fairy Tales with Diane Edgecomb will be presented at the New Lebanon Library on Wednesday, March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day) at 7 pm. There will be plenty of laughter and delight in this animated retelling of Ireland’s best-loved gems. The storytelling will include Irish favorites like “Bee, Mouse, Harp, and Bumclock!” (an unusual “Jack” tale full of dancing bugs) and the tale of Gilly Blackfoot, who is taken by the fairies on a wild joy ride to capture the Princess of France. Known for her vivid comedic style, Diane Edgecomb brings a fresh eye for delight to her interpretations of these classic Irish favorites.
A favorite New England teller, Edgecomb is known for her imaginative retellings and lively characterizations. She has toured extensively throughout the northeast performing at such venues as Three Apples Storytelling Festival, Charlestown Working Theater, Norman Rockwell Museum, the Museum of Science, Old Vienna Kaffeehaus and many more. Her award winning first tape “Pattysaurus and Other Tales” received a starred review in Publisher’s Weekly which stated, “A storyteller in the grand tradition, Edgecomb is a virtuoso of the spoken word.” Edgecomb is on the roster of the Mass Cultural Council and the New England Touring Roster.
