No Rain On The Parade

March 19, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
The good news was it didn’t rain during the Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday. The not quite bad news was that it was chilly cold and windy. However, the crowds dressed in green that lined the streets didn’t seem to care. They simply enjoyed the terrific little parade with its many bands and floats. After the parade, however, it didn’t take long for folks to flock to their favorite pub or the Armory to get warm and enjoy an afternoon and evening of Irish music and Celtic games.
It was just the type of family fun afternoon parade organizers wanted. It was difficult to find an open container along the parade route. Hoosick Falls Police Chief Robert Ashe said, “all in all, the establishments kept everything well in hand.” He added that the police kept a close eye on everything. “We had two little minor incidents and one DWI very late in the night.”

Perhaps the rainbow umbrella over the head of this red bearded leprechaun, who is Nancy Dooley at other times, kept the rain from falling on the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
