Robert Howard Steller

March 5, 2010 By eastwickpress

Hoosick/Petersburgh – Robert “Bob” Howard Steller, 61, of Old Orchard Beach, ME, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the Southern Maine Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born April 14, 1948, in Jackson Heights, NY, Bob was the son of Robert and Betty (McLain) Steller. After graduating from Hoosick Falls Central School Bob completed an apprenticeship with Reynolds Tool and Die in Walloomsac, NY, as a tool and die maker. Later he moved his family to Maine where he continued his career as a designer with Shape Inc.
Bob enjoyed fishing on the ocean with his boat and the adventures of traveling cross country with his wife Terry in their R.V. Along with being an avid NASCAR fan, Bob enjoyed being the ‘’Crew Chief” for his son Matt’s go-cart team. He loved bluegrass music, but he blessed his family by not pursuing his banjo lessons. Along with a great sense of humor and creativity, Bob was a man whose actions spoke louder than his words.
He leaves his loving and devoted son, Matthew and fiancee Lynn Elwell of Old Orchard Beach, his mother, Betty Steller of Bennington, VT, his sister Nancy and her husband Jack VanDerKar of Hoosick Falls, NY, his three brothers, Stephen and wife Simone Steller and Fred and his wife Vicki Steller of North Petersburgh, NY, and Howard and his wife Jessica Steller of North Hoosick, NY, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is pre-deceased by his son, Howard Steller III, his father, Robert J. Steller, his second wife, Terese “Terry” (McKean) Steller, his first wife, P. Lynn (VanDerKar) Steller, and his infant sister, Donna Steller.
A celebration of the life of Bob Steller will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Bob may be made to the family to use at their discretion through the Cathedral Pines Funeral Home, 156 Saco Ave., Old Orchard Beach, ME, 04064.
