Celebrate Spring Vacation Week At SML

Webkinz Party – Kick off the week with a Webkinz gathering at the Library. Bring your favorite Webkinz pets on Monday, April 5, from 11 am to 2 pm and meet other Webkinz owners for socializing and snacks. There will be extra computers available for all attendees to use to log in to their Webkinz account. A special tea party will be held for the pets, and there will be door prize drawings for Webkinz items. Come and bring your friends!
Musical Program with Terri Roben. On Tuesday, April 6, at 1 pm special guest Terri Roben presents a musical program entitled “Minding our Mother.” We’ll learn through songs some basic environmental facts and fun things to know, like the fact that we are made up mostly of water, just like our planet, and what a habitat is, and what a water cycle is. We’ll find out how everything is connected. We’ll look at things we like that come from the earth and maybe even play some instruments that are made of those things. We’ll look a little differently at what gets called garbage but can really be reduced, reused or recycled!
Vacation Week Family Movie – On Wednesday, April 7, at 1 pm we will show the recently released “Hachiko: A Dog’s Story” on our large screen. This heartwarming film is based on a true Japanese story of a dog’s love and loyalty for his owner and is rated G. Popcorn and drinks will be served. This event is free and all are welcome!
Toddler/Preschool Story Time – If you have young children at home, we invite you to join us for stories, songs and an art project each Thursday at 10 am. This is a great opportunity for children to socialize and parents to connect with other parents.
Make Your Own Wind Chime Craft – On Thursday, April 8, at 10:30 am Casey Southard will show you how to make your own wind chime to welcome the warm breezes of Spring! Dangle a variety of elements from a rustic base to create pleasing sounds as the wind blows through. Add your own simple, painted designs to catch the eye with moving color. Take it home, hang it up and let wind power do the rest. All materials are supplied free. Bring your own creativity. Space is limited, so reserve your spot now for this fun project.
Tween Night – Come join us for our popular monthly Tween Night for 10 to 14 year olds featuring DDR – Dance Dance Revolution, board games, pizza and refreshments. Bring your friends and show off your moves on Friday, April 9, at 6:30 pm at the Library. This event is free, but we ask that you register in advance.
Words From the Hills – Join us on Sunday, April 11, at 3 pm for Words from the Hills, a roundtable for sharing poetry, short stories, narratives, histories or even something from a blog. The words may be your own or by a writer whose words have been important to you. There will be no performances, but you may give a dramatic reading if you wish. There’s no need to memorize or recite, but that’s OK if you want to. Mostly we will just go around the table – perhaps even several times, each reading what they have brought. Listeners are certainly welcome. Enjoy some coffee or tea along with the words.
