Grafton Lakes and Cherry Plain State Parks April Events

6, Tuesday – Spring Break Special: Seed Spectacular at 10 am –  Explore seeds of all sorts, and do some planting during this one hour program. We’ll reuse some household items for containers and sow seeds of the children’s choice.  Bring your own or use the park’s seeds.  $2/person, $5/family.  Meets at Shaver Nature Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road, Grafton.  Pre-register.
7, Wednesday – Friends of Cherry Plain State Park Meeting at 6 pm at Bridgeway Restaurant in Cherry Plain.  Help plan spring work days and outings at the park and surrounding  DEC Wildlife Management Area.  Please call Grafton Lakes to RSVP for meeting at 279-1155.
9, Friday – Spring Break Special: Treasure Hunt! at 10 am –  We’ve placed clues along our orienteering course that lead to a Spring treasure trove.  You’ll learn to read a  map and have an adventure along the way.  $3/person.  Meets by playground at north end of main parking lot in Grafton Lakes State Park.  Pre-register.
10, Saturday – Birding Program: Eastern Bluebirds at 10 am.  Learn about New York’s state bird from Grafton Lakes resident birder, Bob Davis. First ten families to register will receive a free bluebird house to put up in their yard.  $2/person, $5/family.   (Rain date: 4/11)
14, Wednesday – Signs of Spring Hike at 10 am.  Explore Shaver Pond trail on this 1.8 mile hike in Grafton Lakes State Park. $2/person, $5/family. (Pre-register 279-1155)
14, Wednesday – Trail Advisory Committee Meeting at 6 pm.  Active outdoor enthusiasts meet twice a year to discuss needed trail improvements and additions to Grafton Lakes State Park. At Shaver Nature Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road, Grafton, NY.
16, Friday – Star Watch at Grafton Lakes State Park at 8 pm.  Join with members of the Albany Area  Astronomers and come explore the night sky.  Meets at Deerfield.  Rain date:  Saturday, 4/17.  Call 658-9144 to confirm.
