Hoosick Grange News

April 2, 2010 By eastwickpress

What a great night of music we had. The Hoosick Falls Central School Jazz Band came to the Grange and played for us. The band leader is Mr. Billy Brown. The first song was the Muppets Theme then the band played “Tuxedo Junction” and everyone was keeping the beat. Then we heard “String of Pearls” and “Funny Valentine.” When they played “It Don’t Mean a Thing” we were keeping time, too. Mr. Brown took time to introduce the band members; then we heard a nice ballad titled “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Mr. Brown asked us who was known for the Twist? We got it wrong. It was Chubby Checker, and when we heard it we felt like dancing. The band played “Colors of the Wind” and “Beauty and the Beast.” The band finished with their last song, “Rock Around the Clock.” You could tell that the band, and everyone else, really liked that song.
The Lecturer thanked Mr. Brown and the band members and invited them to have some refreshments. After everyone enjoyed ice cream, cookies and drink and picked up their instruments, the Grange had a short business meeting.
The Lecturer announced that the next meeting on April 14 is “Growing Hops” with Mr. Gary Brown and Mr. Peter Martin. Omer and Marion Brenenstuhl are in charge of the program. Refreshment Chairman is David Cornell. The Grange closed the meeting with planning for the Masonic Dinner on April 17.
