Peter R. Davendonis

Hoosick Falls – Peter R. Davendonis, 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2010, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He had resided on River Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, with his wife of sixty-three years, Eileen (Kincaid) Davendonis.
Born on January 20, 1921, in Hoosick Falls, Peter was the son of the late John and Cecilia (Zebela) Davendonis. He attended schools in Hoosick Falls until joining the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later entered the United States Army serving overseas from 1940-1945. Upon returning to Hoosick Falls he worked at several businesses and later for the New York State Army in Albany, NY, until retiring several years ago. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. Peter loved to travel, and he and his wife traveled to Hawaii several times.
Survivors other than his wife Eileen include a daughter, Eileen Anderson and husband Paul of Colorado, a son, Bernard Davendonis and wife Sue of Hoosick Falls, grandchildren Shawn Cwalinski and wife Ramona, Jaelith Cordova and husband Randy, Cailin Davendonis and Ryan White, a sister, Adelia St. Hilaire, and a brother, Walter Davendonis, both of Hoosick Falls, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Peter is pre-deceased by two sisters, Helen Toohey and Ann Cumo, and three brothers, John, Ralph and Anthony Davendonis.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 17, at 9 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 9:30 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral Home.
