Shirley Mears

Eagle Bridge – Shirley Mears, 68, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bennington, VT. She had resided on County Rt. 68 in Eagle Bridge, NY.
Born on December 14, 1941, in Cambridge, NY, Shirley was the daughter of the late Philander and Margaret (Pratt) Gates. She attended Valley Falls High School. Shirley was employed at W.C.W. in Hoosick Falls as a sewing machine operator. She had many well loved friends at W.C.W.
Survivors include her lifetime companion, Ernest Niles Sr. of Eagle Bridge, and two sisters, Virginia Bourn and Viola Gulley, both of Bennington. She was pre-deceased by three sisters, Charlotte Harrington, Hazel Gates and Ruth Zilinskas, and four brothers, Raymond Allen, William Allen, Daniel Gates and Philander Gates. Shirley was mother to many and grandmother to some.
Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Wednesday, April 21, from 6 to 7 pm. Burial is Friday, April 23, at 1 pm at the Center White Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the S.W.V.M.C. Cancer Center through the funeral home.
