Carol Hayes

Petersburgh – Carol “Chickie” Hayes passed away unexpectedly on May 18, 2010, at 72. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bob, four children, four grandchildren, a sister and a brother.
Carol was born in Danvers, MA, on Easter Day in 1938 to John and Elmena Driscoll. She was called Chickie by her older brother, a family name that stayed with her. Carol earned a degree from Merrimack College and a Master’s from Suffolk University and taught for 20 years in the Berlin School District. As a member of the Landmark Baptist Church, she embodied the true spirit of her faith. A devoted mother, wife, grandmother and friend, Carol will be remembered for her humor, kindness, music, writings, quilting, generosity, unwavering love of her family, laughter and smile. Calling hours were held from 5 to 7 pm on Saturday, May 22, with the funeral on Sunday, May 23, at 10 am at Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, NY. Burial took place in the Meadowlawn Cemetery.
