The Grafton Historical Society will hold its May meeting at the Grafton Town Hall on May 19 at 7 pm. The Society will host Rensselaer County Historian Kathy Sheehan who will present a talk on the letters of the Tilley, Littlefield, Huntley families. The letters of these longtime Grafton families include descriptions of the Littlefield daughters working in the silk mills of western Massachusetts, in an ice harvesting business in Grafton and other daily life issues including a two day carriage ride to Troy during a snowstorm. They tell a compelling story of the difficulties faced in the mid-19th century.
