Fly Fishing Workshops

Hubbard Hall Project’s wildly successful Curiosity Forum is excited to offer two new “how to” workshops on fly fishing! On Saturday, May, 15 Rich Norman will teach the Fly-Tying Workshop, an introduction to the art of tying classic trout flies, for fly fishing rivers such as the Battenkill.  Rich Norman has been a fly fisherman since age 7 – more than 50 years now! He was a commercial fly tie-er, outdoor writer and Adirondack Guide for six years, and has been a banker for the last 29 years.
This is a one hour workshop beginning at 10 am at Hubbard Hall. Pre-registration is required and may be completed by calling 518-677-2495 weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm. Cost is $3 for Hubbard Hall members or $5 for nonmembers. Register early – Class size is limited to 10.
A second course, Fly Casting Workshop, taught by Adriano Mancha and Rich Norman, will be offered on Saturday, June 26, from 10 am to 11 am. This will be a hands-on fly casting demonstration for those interested in learning the art of fly fishing and casting; intended for ages 12 and older.  Adriano Mancha started fly fishing back in the early 70s. He has combined his love of the sport and outdoors with his profession as a leading sporting artist. He has been exploring the Battenkill and other local rivers and streams. since moving to the Cambridge area in 2003.
The Fly Casting Workshop will meet in the Beacon Feed studio and then move outside to the Freight Yard lawn. Cost for this second course is also $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited to 10 students. In case of heavy rain, registered students will be contacted with rain date information. Please call 518-677-2495 to register.
