Hoosick Grange News

May 7, 2010 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Grange had game night and skits night under the direction of Marion Cipperly. Marion was in charge of the program. She had many prizes for the games. One minute you had a prize, and the next minute it was gone. You never knew if you could keep the prize or not. It was all luck and lots of fun. She started her program with a poem, “Spring Surprise Party,” then the card games. Next Marion had four short skits on farm wives and their husbands. Martha Babbitt, Mary Ramancus, Louise Ciuk and Marion Cipperly took the part of the wives, and Louise Slingerland was the reporter asking the questions. She asked them what they did on the farm. It was very funny. While the actors were getting ready for their skits, Corinne Philpott read some jokes and a reading on “What Was Cooking.” A new bride trying to please her husband used soda pop instead of baking soda in her cake, what a disaster she had. Marion had a closing thought – the old believe everything, the middle aged suspect everything, the young know everything.
The Lecturer and everyone else thanked Marion for a delightful program. The Lecturer announced the Yeast Cinnamon Roll Baking Contest. This will be held on June 23 so they better practice making them.
The Master, David Cornell, thanked everyone who helped and donated to the Masonic dinner. The Grange also draped its charter in loving memory of H. Allison Reed.
The Secretary, Elsie Marpe, read that Pomona Grange will be held at Hoosick Grange on May 5, with a covered dish supper at 7 pm. Hoosick Grange’s next regular meeting is on May 12 at 8 pm. Mary Cipperly is in charge of the program, and Betty Kipp is in charge of the refreshments.
