Hoosick Grange News

May 21, 2010 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Grange met on May 12 with Master David Cornell. We had a discussion on our June 9 meeting, where we will present a Grange Community Citizen Award to Mr. Philip Leonard. All are welcome to attend. We will also have New York State Grange Overseer, Mr. Stephen Coye, as speaker. After the business meeting, Mary Cipperly was in charge of the program. Mary’s theme was “Going To School.” She had a game on New York State symbols. We were surprised at how many we didn’t know. Do you know the state symbols for fossil, insect, reptile, saltwater fish, shell, freshwater fish and gem? We knew the easy ones, like tree, (maple), fruit, flower, bird and etc. The ones who got the most right got their choice of prizes and then on down. These were very interesting. Mary also had ten general questions on anything, like name the state where the Plymouth Rock is? That was an easy one, and they also came with prizes. The Lecturer thanked Mary for her program.
After the Lecturer’s program we had delicious refreshments provided by Betty Kipp. Our next meeting is on May 26, and Elsie and Mary Marpe are in charge. Refreshment Chairpersons are Louise Slingerland and Martha Babbitt.
