John J. Yurewitch

Hoosick Falls – John J. Yurewitch Sr., 73, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010, at home surrounded by his family. He resided with his wife Janis (Winne) Yurewitch on Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.
Born on October 5,1936, in Hoosick Falls, John was the son of Dominick and Anne (Bachorz) Yurewitch. He was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School. John enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an avid New York Giants fan. He worked for Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics in Hoosick Falls for 35 years, retiring in 2007. He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Janis, his son, John Yurewitch Jr., his daughter, Karen Gorman and husband Frank of Hoosick Falls, and his mother, Anne (Bachorz)Yurewitch of Hoosick Falls, as well as his seven grandchildren Ashley, Kimberly and Becky Gorman and Amanda, Savannah, Latasha and Jennifer Yurewitch. He has five great-grandchildren as well as many cousins. He was also survived by his companion, Trouble the cat.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 18, at 9:15 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad or Hospice of Rensselaer County through the funeral home.
