Marjorie Elizabeth Flynn

Buskirk – Marjorie Elizabeth Tate Flynn, 91, of Stage Road Buskirk, NY, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the Danforth Adult Home in Hoosick Falls, NY.
Born on June 5, 1918, in Wynantskill, NY, she was the daughter of Leroy and Alma Tate and spent her early years growing up in Johnsonville, NY, with her seven siblings, who always remained important to her.
On June 28, 1941, she married Willard Flynn of Buskirk, and the couple resided there for 59 years before Willard died in 2001. They raised nine children and spent their later years enjoying their 23 grandchildren.
Marjorie loved her family, keeping a diary, writing poetry and celebrating special occasions with friends and family. She was very active in the community as a member of the Mother’s Club of Buskirk School District # 12, a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Monica’s and St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church and a Charter Member of the Buskirk Fire Auxiliary, and she was a correspondent for the Washington County Post for many years. As the mother of four sons who served in the military, she often turned to her faith and family for support. Marjorie had many life-long friends who relied on her patience, optimism and encouraging words. Her grandchildren cherished their time with her because she filled each new day with special experiences and lots of love.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was pre-deceased by three brothers, Nicholas Tate, Kenneth Tate and LeRoy Tate.
Surviving are her sisters, Catherine Saunders, Alice Tupper and Dorothy Tate, and one brother, Lawrence Tate, nine children Willard and wife Lois Flynn III of West Seneca, NY, Michael and wife Patricia Flynn of Jamestown, NY, John Flynn and Sheila Rowlands of Albany, NY, Patricia and husband David Hall of Crown Point, NY, Dennis and wife Nancy Flynn, Mary and husband Steven Gifford, Timothy Flynn of Buskirk, Kathleen Galluzzo and Tom Carringi of Saratoga Lake, NY, and Daniel and wife Bette Lee Flynn of Speigletown, NY. She is survived by 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are Friday, May 7, at 9 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Cambridge, NY, Rev. James Walsh officiating. Internment will follow at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 6, from 4 to 8 pm.
The family would like to express its appreciation to Rensselaer County Hospice associates, who assisted in caring for Marjorie, and to all the staff at the Danforth Adult Home, who during her 6 years of residence, showed her daily their love, concern, kindness and support.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Marjorie’s memory will be used to support the Cambridge Central School Book Club, Cambridge Central School Libraries and Cambridge Public Library. The love of books and writing poetry were dear to her heart.
