May Events At GLSP And Cherry Plain State Park

Parking fees apply on weekends of $6 per car through May 23 and $8 per car once swimming opens on Memorial Day weekend at GLSP. CP fees will be $6 per car on weekends until July, when swimming opens.
Saturday, May 15 – Star Watch at Grafton Lakes State Park at 8:30 pm. Join with members of the Albany Area  Astronomers and come explore the night sky. Meet at the main parking lot. Call 658-9144 to confirm.
Saturday, May 22 – Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis at Grafton Lakes State Park. Check-in at 9 am, walk at 10 am.  Walk for a cure for this life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. For more information, call Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at 783-7361.
Sunday, May 23 – Trail Work Day at Cherry Plain State Park. Details pending. Contact Friends of Cherry Plain State Park for more information at rgibbs@nycap.rr.com or call Grafton at 279-1155.
Friday, May 28 – Cherry Plain Park opens on weekends only for camping and day use.  Open daily starting July 1 through Labor Day. Visit www.reserveamerica.com to         make a reservation.
Saturday, May 29 – Memorial Day Weekend – GLSP Swimming Opens for the Summer.  10 am to 6 pm, Friday-Tuesday through Labor Day. Closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Monday, May 31 – Memorial Day Annual Sand Sculpture Contest  at GLSP.  Registration begins at noon at the Beach Nature Center. Prizes for all participants, with grand prizes for various age categories.
