The Hoosick Falls Veterans Memorial Wall Committee announced recently that the second phase to raise funds for completion of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Wood Park is now underway.
The projected cost for the Wall is $45,000. The first phase of the project has been completed at a cost of $10,000 which was funded by donations and in-kind services. Efforts are now underway to raise the remaining $35,000 which will cover the cost of six bronze plaques listing the names of all Hoosick area Veterans, installation and landscaping. Letters will be going out to individuals, civic organizations and businesses to ask for donations for the Wall, which will represent our appreciation and honor to the men and women of our armed forces from the Hoosick community who have preserved and protected our freedoms from WW II to the present day.

The first fund raiser will be held at the Memorial Day Parade. For $5 people will be able to purchase an arms’ length of tickets for the “Scratch-Off Basket” containing 50 lottery tickets with fifty chances to win big! The basket is on display at Thorpe’s Pharmacy, and the committee wishes to thank Suzanne DiDonato for designing the basket.
A rendering of the project and information on it will be available in Wood Park before and after the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 31. Raffle tickets for the basket will be sold by volunteers circulating the parade route. They will also be available at the information table in the Park. The drawing will be held Memorial Day afternoon.
