The Beautification of Berlin Committee’s third season of beautiful gladioli planting along Route 22 in Berlin has begun.
In the first year (2008), the program was launched with only one test bed which was expanded in 2009 to three beds. With this 2010 planting there will be ten gladioli beds lining both sides of Route 22 through town.
Planting will be done on May 20 (21st if the weather is bad, on the 20th) and a full display of color is expected in mid-August.
As in prior years, all the work of digging beds, buying bulbs (corms, really), purchasing topsoil and mulch and maintaining the beds is being done by Committee volunteers with financial contributions from local businesses and individuals.
Anyone caring to support the program may due so by check payable to the Beautification of Berlin Committee, P.O. Box 307, Berlin, NY, 12022-0307 or by cash deposited in collection cans located in the Berlin Post Office, the Bank of America Berlin branch, Hewitt’s Market, Cherry Plain Pantry and the Berlin Free Town Library.
