June 18, 2010 By eastwickpress

Daisy and Girl Scouts and Cub and Boy Scouts carried historic flags, a Pine Tree Flag and a “Don’t Tread On Me” Flag, as part of the Flag Day celebration, Monday, June 14, in front of the American Legion Post 40 headquarters on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. (Bea Peterson photo)

A smattering of rain didn't discourage a large crowd from turning out for the event. The Hoosick Community Band played several patriotic songs. (Bea Peterson photo)

Brief remarks were made by Post Commander Walter Zwinge, Hoosick Town Supervisor Keith Cipperly and Rensselaer County Legislators Stan Brownell and Lester Goodermote. As Zwinge's son and grandson lowered the flag and folded it, Walter described the meaning behind each fold. (Bea Peterson photo)
