Stephentown Extra Helpings

The July ordering date for the Extra Helpings Community Food Buying Club in Stephentown is Thursday, June 24, from 3:30 to 6 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church on Garfield Road.  The Extra Helpings program is part of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.  It allows anyone to buy nutritious food at lower than retail prices. There are no limits on age, income, number of bundles or geography so all smart shoppers are welcome and encouraged to participate.
The July choices which can be ordered June 24 are:  $21 basic bundle – 1.5 lbs. chicken breasts stuffed with broccoli and cheddar cheese (4/6 oz.), 1 lb. sirloin beef sandwich steaks, a 1 lb. pkg. fully cooked breakfast sausage, a 4 lb. bag of chicken wings, 1 bunch of celery and a 1 lb. bag of baby carrots.  Special #1 at $11.50 is a 2 lb. bag of bay scallops (no glazing and no chemicals added).  Special # 2 at $14.25 is 6 lbs. of Italian sweet sausage links (2/3-lb. boxes).  The Meat Box at $32 contains 3 lbs. of home-style beef patties, 3 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breasts, 2 lbs. boneless center cut pork chops, 2 lbs. maple breakfast sausage and 3 lbs. of Salisbury steaks.
Cash payment must be made when ordering.  The pick up date is Thursday, July 29, from 3:30 to 6 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church.  You may have another person order or pick up your order, but any food not claimed during the pick-up hours will be donated to the food pantry.   For additional information or to offer your help with the program, call Paula Dibble at 518-733-0699 or Mary Defreest at 518-733-0009.
