“Words from the Hills,” a monthly event at the Stephentown Library for those who share a love of finely crafted words, will be Sunday, June 13, at 3 pm. It is a roundtable for sharing poetry, short stories and narratives. Both writers and readers are invited to participate, sharing your writings or perhaps reading from another author’s book, poem, short story or even something you may have found on the internet. The source is not important, sharing words which are meaningful or entertaining is.
There will be no performances, but you might hear a dramatic reading if someone is prepared to give one. There’s no need to memorize and recite, although you may if you wish. Mostly we will just go around the table – each person reading a work they have brought until we exhaust the hour or our supply.
“Words from the Hills” is held on the second Sunday of each month. Listeners are welcome. Light refreshments will be available. For more information call 518-733-5675.
The Stephentown Memorial Library is located on Main Street (NY 43) in Stephentown and is handicapped accessible.
Annual Book And Bake Sale
The Stephentown Memorial Library Summer Book and Bake Sale is scheduled for Saturday, July 10, from 9 am to 3 pm. There will be plenty of books, both hardcover and paperback, along with other media. There will also be a tag sale and bake sale. Musical entertainment will be provided. The Library is currently accepting book donations during library hours or by arrangement. Items are also being accepted for the tag sale. Table space is available for local organizations who wish to promote their nonprofit group at the event. Crafters are invited to purchase table space and sell their handcrafted items. For more information, call the Library at 518-733-5750.
Annual Appeal Continues
The Library’s Board of Trustees reports that the Library’s annual appeal has been very successful so far. Board President Sue Brissette Cass said, “We want to thank everyone who has contributed to the Library’s work; your donations make a big difference.” Library Director Laurenne Teachout adds, “ I just want to remind anyone who has not yet contributed that every donation, large or small, is a help.” Laurenne noted, “If every family in Stephentown donated $20, we could completely cover the unfunded part of our budget and provide even more services for the community.”
