Theresa L. Purdy

Stephentown – Theresa L. Gardner Purdy, 72, of West Road, Stephentown, NY, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, June 2, 2010, at Albany Memorial Hospital.
Born in North Pownal, VT, on April 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Irene Langlais Gardner. She was the loving wife of the late John L. “Jack” Purdy, who died on July 28, 2008. They were married on July 1, 1957.
A lifelong resident of the area, Theresa graduated from Berlin Central High School in 1957. She worked in a domestic capacity for many local families through the years. At the time if her death, she was employed by Zwack, Inc. in Stephentown, where she worked for over thirty years. Theresa was a dedicated volunteer for the Outreach Mission in Schodack, NY. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
She is survived by her children, John W. and wife Lisa Purdy, Audrey Goodermote and Billie Jo Purdy, all of Stephentown, a step-daughter, Ginger and husband Murray Saunders Jr. of Cherry Plain, NY, siblings, Charlotte A. and husband Gerald Garneau of Brooksville, FL, Irene Nora Fitzpatrick of Troy, NY, Mary E. Gilbert of Stephentown, William C. Gardner of North Adams, MA, and Thomas W. Gardner of Stephentown, grandchildren, Tonya Sponsler, Joshua and Tyler Purdy, Trevor Goodermote, Kendall (Don) Casey and Hannah and Levi Borghi, great-grandchildren, T.J. Purdy and Nicholas, Zachary, Kayla and Chloe Purdy and Logan, Madison and Jack Casey, and her beloved dog, Trixie, along with many nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services. Per Theresa and Jack’s wishes, their cremated remains will be spread at their favorite fishing place in Union Falls, NY. To remember Theresa in a special way, memorial contributions are suggested and may be made to the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department, the Veterans of Stephentown or the American Cancer Society in care of Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, P.O. Box 9, Stephentown, NY, 12168.
