Saturday, July 31 – Wilderness Survival Seminar from 2 to 4 pm. From making fire to making shelter, a basic intro to dealing with a survival situation. It’s actually fun too! Meet by the beach.
Sunday, August 1 – Summer Concert in the Park Series presents All Them Chops from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Big Band Swing at Long Pond Beach. Free!
Aquatic Creatures at 11 am
Did you know that a dragonfly’s life begins in the water? Meet a nymph and other pond dwellers in this free program. Meet at the table in front of boathouse on Long Pond.
Thursday, August 5 – 6:30 pm. Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park Summer Potluck Dinner and Meeting. Meet at Shaver Pond Nature Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road in Grafton. Call 279-1155 for more information.
Sunday, August 8 – 25th Annual Run for the Roses 5k benefitting the Grafton Community Library. The race is at 9 am, the nature walk at 8 am and the kids One Mile Fun Run at 10 am. Call the Grafton Library at 279-0580 for information.
Thursday, August 12 – 8:30 pm. Watch a meteor shower at Grafton Lakes State Park. See the Perseid meteor shower through telescopes. The rain date is for the regular Star Watch on August 14.
Sunday, August 15 – Botanical Drawing with local artist Nancy McGrath. Call for a supplies list and to pre-register, 279-1155. Meet at the Shaver Nature Center. The cost is $12 per adult.
Saturday, August 21 – Grazers and Browsers of North America from 1 to 3 pm. Touch and explore display offered above Long Pond Beach. Meet the woodchuck!
Saturday, August 28 – Final edition of our Wilderness Survival Series: Lost in the Woods at 1 pm. Bring your kids to this important safety training.
