Monday, November 28, 1853: Today John F. went onto my Rodgers farm and Geo P. with him and put the barn door onto the hinges that had blown down.
Tuesday: I went to Lebanon with one horse wagon and sold eight bushels of turnips at 25 cts per. I trusted half a bushel of them 12 1/2 cts to an Irish shanty north in the lot in Samuel Clark’s lot near the swamp, and I paid eleven cts for a codfish.
Wednesday: This afternoon John F. went to Hancock to get tanbark but did not get any, it was for Geo P. to put in his ice house. Tonight I reckoned with Patrick Rafferty and paid him up 52 dol and 75 cts, he credited me 75 cts out of his wages for two less days works.
Saturday: Today John F. walked down near Brainard’s Bridge to look at some sheep of one Mr. Hicks but did not buy them.
Monday: John F. looked at Franklin Bull’s sheep but did not buy any.

Thursday: Today Mr. Tanner came and skinned two hogs for me and paid three cents per pound for the skins, which was one dollar and 59 cents and this evening Gardner Green came and cut up the pork, I had paid him in turnips for cutting up said pork. I gave him half a rib and today John F. bought 50 lambs of John Moffitt at one dollar and 75 cts per head.
Friday: I tended to chores and salted my pork and mended stable floor. Today Gardner Green and son came and butchered two young cattle for John F., I borrowed one fore quarter, weight 92 pounds
Monday: On this evening John F. and Alonzo Rodgers had an arbitration to the district school house and the arbitrators were Sylvanus Carpenter and John Conklin and Bliss Maxon, they decided that said Rodgers should pay John F. five dollars and 15 cts after deducting one dol and fifteen cts as they considered damage of John F. oxen breaking out of my enclosure over Mr. L. Rodgers fence.
Wednesday: I helped Geo P. he had John Merrels to rebuild his chimney in the Alonzo Chapman house. I mixed mortar and cleaned house. Tonight Mr. Wm McMurray and daughter Ellen stayed with us, Geo P. and family stayed with us tonight while their house was repairing.
