Loretta M. Burt

Petersburgh – Loretta M. Lingener Burt, 71, of River Road, Petersburgh, NY, died on Friday, July 16, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
Born in Petersburgh on August 29, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Darius and Mary Crandall Lingener. She was the loving wife of the late Paul H. Burt, who died tragically in April of 1970. They were married on March 7, 1963.
A lifelong resident of Petersburgh, Mrs. Burt was a 1957 graduate of Berlin Central High School. She worked for the Social Security Administration in Troy for 20 years retiring in 2002. She loved to travel with friends and enjoyed quilting. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Survivors include her daughters, Sue A. Burt and Lawrence R. “Rip” Kirby  of Rutland, VT, and Merry A. and husband Scott Gates of Petersburgh, her grandchildren, Ashlee Gates and Ian Masterson, Scott Gates Jr., and Lindsay Burt, her great-grandchild, Ian Masterson Jr., and her dear friend, Marcia Trask. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Darius J. Lingener II, and a dear friend, Carol Hayes.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday evening, July 20, at 7 pm in the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh where Rev. Tony Greene, Hospice Chaplain officiated. Relatives and friends were invited to visitation at the funeral home starting at 4 pm.
