• Saturday, July 17, at 10:30 am – The Art of Dowsing – Rene Lincoln, President of a Vermont chapter of the American Society of Dowsers, will be giving an introductory talk on this very ancient skill of locating water. This is a wonderful family event that both adults and children will find most interesting.
• Tuesday, July 20. at 7 pm – Community Awareness Film and Discussion – Filmmaker Joe Berlinger’s provocative documentary, “Crude: The Real Price of Oil,” explores the ongoing battle waged by 30,000 indigenous Ecuadorans and their lawyers against Chevron for dumping billions of gallons of toxic oil waste into the Amazon. Berlinger examines the environmental catastrophe – dubbed the “Amazon Chernobyl” – from all sides, following the drama as it moves from the contamination site to the courtroom and beyond, even landing on the cover of Vanity Fair. After the film, we will have an informal discussion about how we can react locally to this issue. Refreshments will be served.
• Thursday, July 22, at 10:30 am – Wacky Water Preschool Program – Why doesn’t that rock sink? How can you make a paper clip float? The Children’s Museum at Saratoga will show preschool children the principles of buoyancy, density, surface tension, adhesion and cohesion through water play! Reservations are requested.
• Friday, July 23, at 6:30 pm – Tween Night – Come join us for our popular monthly Tween Night for 10-14 year olds, featuring Guitar Hero, board games, pizza and refreshments. Bring your friends and show off your moves at the Library. This event is free, but we ask that you register in advance.
