The Walter A. Wood High School Alumni Association donated $1,937 to the Hoosick Veterans Memorial Wall on July 2. This organization has disbanded since the new alumni group includes graduates from the Hoosick Falls Central School. Janice Tate presented the check to Phil Leonard, a member of the fund raising team for the wall.
The committee had set a goal of $10,000 by July 4. This donation made us go over our goal. To date more than 85 people have donated to the fund. We ask interested people to send their donations to Veterans Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 536, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090.
We continue to collect names of the service men and women who should be on the plaques. Applications can be found at the Village and Town offices. The application and qualifications can be found on the Hoosick Township Historical Society website (Hoosickhistory.com). Please be sure to fill out an application because we want all service individuals to be listed.
November 11, 2010 is targeted as the date to have the $35,000 needed to start on the plaques that will be placed on the Wall in Wood Park. All service men and women who have served from Hoosick Falls since World War II are eligible. We need your help in making sure that all names of those that served are on the wall. With your help we will have the information and money needed in order for the dedication to take place on Veterans Day, November 11, 2011.
